Inspired by its own ensemble of six actors, Back to Back Theatre is a leading voice in contemporary world theatre. For more than 28 years, Back to Back has made a body of work that questions the assumptions of what is possible in theatre, but also the assumptions we hold about ourselves and others.

Ganesh Versus the Third Reich is poignant, beautiful, disarming, full of vulnerability and sly transparency. The story begins with the elephant-headed god Ganesh travelling through Nazi Germany to reclaim the Swastika, an ancient Hindu symbol. As this intrepid hero embarks on his journey a second narrative is revealed: the actors themselves begin to feel the weighty responsibility of storytellers and question the ethics of cultural appropriation.

Ganesh Versus the Third Reich has received numerous prizes around the world and will be presented in Brazil for the very first time as part of Australia now.
